Bio: |
Jason Bacon is one half of Portland Oregon's UNKL. He grew up on the go, spending parts of his childhood in more than eight US cities and abroad which created a lot of time to create friends rather than make them. After landing in Oregon, he spent four-ish years attending Oregon State University followed by a seven-year stint as a designer for Nike. It was there at Nike, on a cold November day, where he and Derek Welch began a collaborative partnership with their first creative endeavor: Reggie Silver Balls. In 1999, after the "completion" of a stuffed chicken collection (Can you really ever have too many stuffed chicken's?), He and Welch formed their design firm Big-Giant. A few short years later the character sketches and stories became the basis of UNKL and fulfilled the need for a creative outlet to help offset their client work. On another note, he used to be known for his ability to eat three-dozen donuts in a weekend, he is now told that he prefers salad.
